Vice President of Nigeria, Professor Yemi Osinbajo at Queen's University.

Nigeria's Vice President, His Excellency Professor Yemi Osinbajo, offered the lecture on climate justice and Africa at Goodes Hall yesterday afternoon.

Answering a question from a Smith student, he said that there is no better education on climate change than to see its effect and the damage it is causing now.

The event was open to a broad audience both in person and online. It highlighted Queen's Universityโ€™s work with UNESCO and 1 Million Teachers, as well as the universityโ€™s efforts to advance the United Nationโ€™s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Rewrite The Future (GR) - New York 2022

On Wednesday, September 21, 2022 Girl Rising brought together education innovators, young changemakers in gender equity and climate justice, and policy leaders from Nigeria and the United States to urge governments and world organizations to redouble their efforts to tackle the current education crisis that is affecting girls. Girl Rising is an international nonprofit known for its award-winning namesake documentary and for using the power of storytelling to change the way the world values girls and their education. The event, called Rewrite the Future, was hosted in collaboration with 1 Million Teachers (1MT), HP, North East Children's Trust (NECT) โ€” an initiative led by the Vice President of Nigeria, His Excellency Prof. Yemi Osinbajo.

The United Nations Secretary-General convened a Transforming Education Summit (TES) during the high-level week of the General Assembly in September 2022. It consisted of a Leaders Day on 19 September 2022, in which a TES preceded: Mobilization Day on Friday, 16 September and a TES: Solutions day on 17 September.
