Women and Girls Education

The 1MT core program focuses on women and girls' education with the goal of closing gender gaps and addressing poverty. It aims to provide a cost-effective and accessible way for women and girls to gain essential knowledge and skills to create long-term and sustainable impact for economic and social development.

1MT seeks to reduce barriers to inclusive and quality education for girls and women by offering innovative and gender-responsive education. The program also aims to increase the number of female teachers by providing basic education and mentorship, creating a self-sustaining cycle of empowerment for girls and women.

"Let's embark on a collective journey towards fostering Gender Equality and Gender Equity within our educational institutions.

It's imperative that we ensure equal opportunities for both the boy and girl child to access education. They are not defined by their gender but rather by their potential as individuals.

As educators, it's our responsibility to dismantle the confines of gender norms and roles that society imposes. We must empower our students to break free from these constraints, encouraging them to pursue their passions and interests without fear of judgment or limitation.

Whether it's a boy aspiring to be a nurse or a girl dreaming of becoming a combat soldier or pilot, let's champion their aspirations and celebrate their choices. Every career path should be open to all, irrespective of gender.

Moreover, we need to instill in our students the understanding that neither gender is superior to the other. By fostering an environment of mutual respect and understanding, we can cultivate a generation that values diversity and embraces equality.

So, let's join hands in this noble campaign, spreading awareness and advocating for inclusive education. Together, we can create a future where every child, regardless of gender, has the opportunity to thrive and succeed."

Education is the Key

In the fight for gender equality, education stands as a fundamental human right, yet millions of girls worldwide are denied this basic privilege. Despite progress in many regions, girls still face systemic obstacles to education, including poverty, gender discrimination, cultural norms, and inadequate infrastructure. The COVID-19 pandemic has further exacerbated these inequalities, disproportionately affecting girls in underserved communities who are at greater risk of dropping out due to school closures, lack of access to technology, and increased household responsibilities.
  • According to UNESCO, an estimated 130 million girls between the ages of 6 and 17 are out of school worldwide. Gender disparities persist, with only 52% of girls compared to 62% of boys of upper secondary school age enrolled in secondary education in low-income countries. Additionally, UNESCO reports that only about 1 in 3 countries have achieved gender parity in lower secondary education, and just 1 in 4 have achieved it in upper secondary education.

  • Investing in girls' education yields far-reaching benefits, not just for the individual girls but for entire communities and societies. Education breaks the cycle of poverty, reduces rates of child marriage and early pregnancy, improves health and nutrition choices, and ultimately leads to a higher quality of life for future generations. 1MT is committed to championing the right of every girl to access quality education, ensuring that no girl is left behind.

  • Trained and dedicated teachers play a crucial role in creating inclusive and supportive learning environments for girls. 1MT provides a platform for passionate educators to ensure that girls have access to quality education, regardless of their background or circumstances.

My hope for the future of women is that seeing women in leadership (empowered) will no longer be an exception, but the norm."

Women in STEM Initiative

To bridge the gender gap in STEM fields, 1MT launched its Women in STEM Initiative. With a vision of inclusivity and diversity, this initiative extends scholarships and training opportunities to girls aspiring to carve a niche in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. By encouraging girls to venture into STEM education, 1MT aims to challenge stereotypes, amplify female representation in STEM industries, and spur innovation and economic growth.
