Eduvorous 1.0: Inspiring Excellence in Ibadan's Educators

On Friday, the 5th of July, 2024, 75 educators, domicile within West Africa's largest city of Ibadan, graduated in an electrifying atmosphere of pomp and pageantry during what was Eduvorous 1.0, the maiden edition of an annual conference of educators who teach and live within Nigeria's Ibadan metropolis. The objective of the conference was to gather educators, especially those within the public education sector of Oyo state, and expose them to professional development opportunities and workshops which would not only expose them to best practices within the global education sector, but also serve as an avenue to broaden their horizon as professional facilitators of the next generation of young innovators and global creatives.

The conference was Ibadan Educators' Summit 2024 and played host to over 300 hundred educators who teach and live within the Ibadan metropolis. It was also an opportunity for them to learn about the great work being done at 1MT and be inspired to enrol for professional development, even as they witness the graduation of over 70 of their colleagues who completed 10 courses on the 1MT black belt programme.

One of the guest speakers at the conference was Nigeria's Teachers' Registration Council registrar, Prof. Segun Ajiboye, who charged teachers on the necessity of pursuing relevant professional certifications in order to boost education quality within the state and, by extension, the country. Other speakers present at the conference range from Prof. C.O.O Kolawole, the current Vice Chancellor of Trinity University, one of Nigeria's leading private universities; Olalekan Adeeko - the 2020 African Union Teachers' Award recipient - and Prof. E.B Omobowale, the Director of Nigeria's premier University of Ibadan, Distance Learning Centr.

The conference was brought to a close with an insightful plenary session where educators had the privilege of asking pertinent questions relevant to their pedagogy, learners and global best practices.

It was an immense opportunity for educators to be inspired, and share knowledge and skills relevant not only to developing their pedagogy but also honing their instructional strategies.
